A Visit From Father Ken
Father Ken frequently stops by to say hello. Yesterday, he came with a lovely Christmas story about a Wombat in Australia. The children were excellent listeners and were very curious about wombats. A special thank you to Father Ken for reading to our class.

Reminders
WOW..time is flying...Christmas break is almost here!
REMINDERS:
On Wednesday, we have our annual Christmas Dinner/Lunch at the church. It is always delicious (corn, potatoes, gravy, turkey, buns)! The students will only need to pack a small morning and afternoon snack on Wednesday.
On Friday, the kids can wear P.J.'s to school (Pyjama Day) as we get ready to relax for the Christmas break.
CONGRATULATIONS to all of our little angels. They all did a fantastic job at the Christmas concert. We practised lots and had lots of fun learning the songs. They were amazing!

Advent
Today we introduced Advent. The students made an Advent Wreath and added the first candle. Each week we will add the next candle and recite the week's prayer. Today we prayed using the following prayer:
The First Candle
Dear God, help us to get ready for Jesus' birthday.
Help us to be kind while waiting.
Amen.

Thank you Mr. Wilson
Yesterday Mr. Wilson surprised us as our second Mystery Reader. His clues were fantastic (#1 - I wear glasses and am bald, #2 - My favourite colour is red, and #3 - I like Dr. Seuss and Pete the Cat Books). Mr. Wilson was dressed in red and full of energy...the kids LOVED his visit!
Thank you Mr. Wilson for coming and for the new addition to our book shelf.

Our Little Readers
The Year One students have been introduced to reading using beginning strategies and finger tracking. When reading at home please encourage finger tracking and looking at the pictures for clues. The Year Two students should be encouraged to use their knowledge of sounds to decode unfamiliar words. Some of our students continued our reading lesson during play time today.

Learning the Rosary
This year we are fortunate to have Mrs. Graham and Mrs. Ward visit our class (once a month) to teach our students about the rosary. The students were engaged with stories, songs, and Mrs. Graham's wooden rosary.
